  1. Who processes your data?

Animal welfare policy is a regional matter. For the purposes of coordination and efficiency in identifying cat keepers, similar legislation applies in all three regions, which hold joint responsibility for the resulting data processing. Here are their contact details:

The cat identification and registration database is managed by ZETES SA, subcontractor to the three regions whose activity is governed by a service concession contract providing for:

  • communication services,
    • database management,
    • provision of a helpdesk,
    • website hosting,
  • administrative services,
    • database development and management,
    • securing access to the database,
    • providing the link between the animal's data and its keeper's data,
    • supplying proof of registration.

  1. What is the purpose of the processing?

The processing has the following purposes:

  • Animal identification,
  • To supply proof of identification and registration,
  • To search for their keeper efficiently,
  • Efficient monitoring of the regulations in force and the animal trade and animal movements,
  • To compile statistics.

  1. How long is the data kept?

The data is kept until the cat's death. If no notification of death is received, the data will be deleted automatically 30 years after the initial registration. Data concerning previous keepers is also kept until the file is closed.

 

  1. What protective measures are applied?

Management of the identification platform is subcontracted to ZETES via a concession common to the three regions. This contract includes a special subcontracting agreement that complies with the requirements of Article 28 of the GDPR.

 

  1. How do I exercise my rights?

Via this website, you can check whether the processing concerns you and access your data, correct your data, or delete optional data.

 

You can also access, correct, and delete your data by contacting the processing manager in your region.

 

You can also submit a claim to the Data Protection Authority by post (rue de la Presse 35, 1000 Brussels) or using the email address (contact@apd-gba.be).
